During a pub conversation, British comedian Lloyd Griffith reveals that his Team of the Year is the starting eleven of his beloved Grimsby Town FC—but with himself in goal and Messi up front. This, obviously, will not do. In order to research who the best football players in the world really are, he meets with trainers, analysts, a shaman and a llama. As well as some of the top players in Europe, including Lionel Messi, Ryan Giggs and Gary Neville.
Each year, football fans choose the UEFA Team of the Year players through a poll on the UEFA website. Players of EA Sports’ popular FIFA game also choose their Ultimate Team, to compete in tournaments and test their team-building skills. In this 24-minute film, director Joe Roberts takes Lloyd Griffith on a quest across Europe to find out who should be in his Team of the Year. To make a better informed choice, he meets with FC Barcelona scout Charly Rexach, Opta Sports analyst Duncan Alexander, Wimbledon striker Adebayo Akinfenwa, sports psychologist Dan Abrahams, former Manchester United stars Ryan Giggs and Gary Neville, a teenage FIFA enthousiast, a llama, a shaman, and Lionel Messi.
